AMY TIDD FILES TO RUN FOR FLORIDA HOUSE DISTRICT 30

Long time community activist Amy Tidd filed to run as the Democratic candidate for the Florida State House District 30.

In 2008, Tidd ran for this seat in one of the most competitive State Legislative races in Florida. Residents, who respect her work in the community for education funding, clean water and air and transportation improvements have asked her to run again. The Brevard Federation of Teachers endorsed Tidd in 2008 because of her support for quality public education.

"Albert Einstein said 'We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them,'" said Tidd. Florida needs new leadership to create policies to encourage new, high paying jobs in clean energy, medicine and other area that could grow with encouragement. Let's work to get Florida's economy moving again!

Floridians are suffering from some of the highest unemployment rates and home foreclosures in the country. They need their legislators to help them and their families through this tough time. However, my opponent Ritch Workman, in contrast to his campaign promises voted in one of his first decisions to raise taxes and the cost of auto tags, driver licenses, and hunting and fishing licenses. . These increases hurt the working people of Brevard and if elected I will vote to repeal these unfair tax and fee hikes that he helped put in place."

District 30 takes in the cities of Rockledge, part of Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Viera/Suntree and most of Palm Bay.

Amy Tidd lives in Rockledge with her husband of 25 years Steve Tidd, who is a teacher at Cocoa High School. They moved to Brevard in 1992 after their service in the Navy and have been active members in their community and their church St. John the Evangelist. Their children Brendan and Miranda are college students in Florida. For more info on Amy Tidd and upcoming events, go to http://amytidd.com or call 631-3916.
